Dynamic Positioning Operators

The Nautical Institute does not have a definition for different levels of Dynamic Positioning Operators (sometimes called as Dynamic Positioning Officer).

A "Trainee DPO" is generally considered to be a person who is working toward the award of a DPO Certificate and a Dynamic Positioning Operator as someone who holds a valid DPO Certificate. Mostly its the Marine Companies who assign levels of DPO status to suit their own operational needs and charter requirements.
