Mariner engineering passed cadet, serving in dredgers?
And here I am again…
One day I was travelling somewhere and I met with a young guy like me. So, what drew my attention, his short hairs (Serious one type). Then I listened him talking on phone...dredger blaaaa. So my curiosity grew, because it was shipping term.
I asked that chap, are you in merchant navy and in very humble tone he said yes ( I could see his chest puffed with something called as pride, Merchant navy).
After few minute talk, I came to know he did B.tech in marine engineering ( Me too man!). But what he asked me after that, left me spell bound and I was like..yaaa..nooo,,yaaa (Of course in murmuring tone).
What he asked- He said to me, he is not getting placement from college even after scoring good grades. So, He wanted to join Dredger Corporation of India. One thing that was deterring him was that will he be able to appear for 4B exam, keeping that fact that he will sail on Dredger ship (Ship above 750 KW power).
As soon as I reached home I tried to find out, but I couldn't.
So does anybody knows better answer to this question?

0 Mariners the sea-time of Marine Engineers depends in the KW of Engine and yes the chap was right as sea-time is calculated differently for lesser KW.
I am sorry that I cannot quote the exact DG Shipping Circular now as am really busy with my personal life.
I was working on a module for Marine Engineers sea-time too but then things changed in my life and am not getting time. Glad to know that you are a Marine Engineer will seek your help when I am back with it and will update this post soon. Best of luck for your future. - X
0 @ Rishi Kashyap,
It was overwhelming for me to see that you took out time and posted your view.
As far as my future is concerned, it is still shaky. And the reason is, no job. I am trying different companies but nobody is taking tme these days. I don't know when will this grim situation of unemployment get over.
