SEA TIME FOR A TANKER CADET
SEA TIME FOR A TANKER CADET
I have completed 9 months onboard a chemical tanker as a deck cadet. As per Ms notice 18 of 2011, 15 months will be considered valid as sea time for a tanker cadet. I want to know if it is valid or not. Please provide me useful information regarding this.

0 @gaganugra I checked Ms notice 18 of 2011.
It clearly statesremission of approved sea service upto a maximum of 3 months or pro-rata, for completed captioned service of 6 months on such tankers of 3000 GT and above, to all deck cadets who have completed DNS Course and pursuing approved structured ship-board training programme (SSTP) of 18 months, provided a systematic record showing an average of 3 cargo loadings or unloadings per month during the requisite period, with at least one cargo loading or discharging operation every month during such period.
A certificate issued by the company, stating the eligibility in number of days, as applicable (to extent of a maximum of 3months), is a prerequisite for honoring reward sea time under this M. S. Notice, at time of assessment.
Hence the remission on pro-rata or max 3 months is allowed if- sailed 6 months on tankers of 3000 GT and above AND
- completed DNS Course AND
- pursuing approved SSTP AND
- experienced average of 3 cargo loadings/unloadings per month (with documented records) AND
- Minimum 1 cargo loading/discharging operation every month AND
- A certificate issued by the company
However it is always advisable to contact the MMD you intend to go for exams with this circular to confirm, simply because SIR Clerk in that MMD may not approve it ! (I hope you understand) - sailed 6 months on tankers of 3000 GT and above AND
