Whats the role of VFS for UK Visa ?

I will quote from the VFS website itself which makes it very clear :

"VFS Global is a commercial company, working in partnership with the UK Border Agency at the British High Commission and Deputy High Commissions here in India providing services to help people apply for a visa to enter the United Kingdom (UK)"

"VFS Global manages visa application centers for the UK Border Agency here in India, where you should submit your completed visa application form, supporting documents and biometric data."

"Your visa application will be processed and decided by UK Border Agency staff. VFS staff does not, play any part in or influence the outcome of your visa application."

So in short, VFS has collaborated with UK Border Agency to setup the Visa Application Centers in India, to collect the application form, supporting documents and biometric data of the applicant and just forward it to the UK Border Agency staff.
