career progression for a TME in offshore industry.

dear sir,
since it is very difficult to get a break in the main fleet,,so i want to know if it is a good option to join the offshore industry??
if some one joins an offshore vessel as a TME then what will be his career prospects,,what are the requirements for exams etc???

  @ankkush_123 I am sorry but am not very sure with the sea-time requirement of engineers. Sure it depends upon KW of engine and sailing on off-shore vessel have different sea-time calculation (NCV stream). I have no idea how they change from NCV to FG too so that is why no reply ;-(
  I wish you all the best and hope that you do join an FG vessel soon.
