BP academy OR Coimbatore MC for ETO course ?

    0

I'm a 2013 BE Graduate in E&CE(Yes, electronics is an eligible branch according to DGS.) Since my aggregate is 57% i cannot join Anglo Eastern or Great  Eastern or AMET institutes(60% cutoff). So I'm left with BP and CMC. I've been told that they don't assure most important CDC and hence job. I'm preferring BP as it claims 100% placement. But I'm confused. Please guide me.

Thanks for your update about eligible branch for ETO, have updated Join Merchant Navy India for ETO Course in India

Need more information about "they don't assure most important CDC and hence job". Who are "they" ?

CDC or Continuous discharge certificate is a document necessary for sailing and most DG Shipping approved institute ask you to apply prior completion of Merchant Navy Courses in India.

However it does not mean that you cannot apply on your own ! If the confusion is only wrt CDC, don't worry, you will also get CDC since both BP Marine Academy and Coimbatore Marine College are DG approved colleges.

You are welcome sir. And thanks for responding.'they' referred to BP and CMC institutes. Yes they both are DGS approved and i'm relieved to hear that they provide CDC. Does approval from DGS assure provision of CDC? An EO(not ETO) friend of mine told me that the MMD officials will demand bribe for providing CDC. Is it solved now? Coming to placement, A guy-I-know who is a GME warned me that BP is not a good college and their claim of 100% placement is just for publicity. I don't know the truth since this information isn't very easy to find and So i'm using this forum. My worry isn't just the CDC certificate but also placement. Does BP really provide 100% placement for ETOs in Doehle Danautic shipping company like it has claimed in it's website? And assuming that i fail to get placed on-campus either in BP OR CMC, can i successfully find a job myself later or is it difficult? Sorry i'm asking for too many specific questions, this course costs over Rs.2.5lakhs so i need to be sure about placement more than anything before i proceed. I hope you understand.

While I do understand, but sorry for being blatant, I take recommending any college like endorsing same (We are not affiliated with anyone so we refrain from doing so).

Most of the information you have is correct, while some do pay bribe at MMD, in my career of 10 years till date I have never bribed anyone in MMD (was difficult though but that's ethical issue with me). So if your documentation part is OK trust me your college will assist you in every way to get CDC.

Try your level best to get placed during your college time as it is very difficult to get a job later (not impossible but very difficult). Try contacting seniors passed out from such college (from FB and other social network) to get a better placement picture. DG Shipping does not publish placement scenario for ETO students else would have send you the link. I recommend you to go through (for better understanding present Job state) :
      GP Rating placement
      Shipping Industry Agents.

Sorry for late reply. thank you for the information sir. i wish you had told me about both the the colleges since no one else replied for this post. and yes, I'm trying to find ETO alumini from both colleges.
and thank you for warning me about the off-campus placement scenario. I'll make sure there are healthy chances of getting job before I join any institute.
