KEI-RSOS Maritime for E/R Watch Keeping
KEI-RSOS Maritime for E/R Watch Keeping
I am a fresher, Interested in Engine side. I recently got a chance to join a sea going tug VEGA(IMO 9293703, BHP 3700, GRT 299) of KEI-RSOS maritime Ltd. Is this a good company ? Will i get watch keeping certificate if I maintain TAR book on this vessel for 6 months ?

0 KEI-RSOS maritime Ltd. is an Indian Shipping Company and may not require RPSL but its seatime should be counted.
Hope VEGA is not coastal vessel as seatime calculation for Coastal vessel is different from FG. Please check relevant DG Shipping circular (sorry do not have link for Eng). Best of luck. - X
0 Thanks for Ur reply....
what is the sea time differences between coastal and FG vessels for Eng Watch Keeping?
You said that "VEGA is not coastal vessel" then what kind of vessel it is & can I get the watch keeping from it? - X
0 DG Shipping defines the sea-time calculation as per KW of main propulsion machinery and not as Ship/Tug. Following is DG Shipping sea-time requirement
for certification of Officers in Charge of an Engineering Watch in a manned engine room or Designated Duty Engineers in a periodically Unmanned Engine Room (Marine Engineer Officer Class IV).
Every candidate shall have performed engine room watch keeping duties as appropriate for motor/ steam for a period of not less than six months in the engine department of a sea going ship powered by main propulsion machinery of 750 kW propulsion power or more under the supervision of the Chief Engineer Officer or a qualified Engineer Officer.
To avoid loosing links again after DG Shipping website change, I am attaching all relevant DG Shipping circulars including NCV seatime calculation details too. You can download it from Engineers seatime requirement.
If you still have doubt please contact DG Shipping for details. Best of luck.
