My Life and Maggie

I was really happy in going to Rajgir because even though my mother made it popular tourist place for all my relatives (240 Km from my home at Dhanbad), I was never able to explore it !

Before we took a guide (I fail to understand why nobody took interest in their UDYAMITA), there was this gentleman Mr Kurush Dalal. For My Jagriti Yatra 2022 he was the YATRI WORTH KNOWING (02-JAN-2023). He made so many reference of Maggie that it just reminded of my Maggie Test !

So, Maggie has played a very important role in my life.
Two incident to detail :

1. In your 1st night will you ask me how to do it ?
   So the story goes like I was 12 month Bsc Nautical Science cadet from T S Chanakya and for 6 months my seniors never took interest in me !
   My daily watch routine was :
   
   • 1) Coming to Navigation watch 5 minutes early before taking over !
   • 2) My Chief mate came to Navigation watch 5 minutes late before taking over !
   • 3) My Chief mate sat on chair.
   • 4) I will make his coffee.
   • 5) He will drink his coffee and I will quietly keep my navigation watch !
   • 6) 3 hrs and 45 minutes of silence in bridge.
   • 7) After 3 hrs and 45 minutes, I will write the log books.
   • 8) 3 words - "Sir Please sign". Chief mate will sign the log books.
   • 9) 4 hrs watch completes and we go down to normal day work !
   
   I wish I could make it 10 points but I can't, it was daily routine for almost 6 months equals 180 days equals 8640 hours of 1 to 9 again and again and again ! Most of my friend's seniors were teaching them and I was thinking "7 months gone and only 5 months left ! When will he start ?"
   
   Suddenly 1 day after navigation watch my 2nd Officer told me, can you cook maggie for me ?
   "I do not know how to cook maggie !" came my reply !
   I was no way young, I was 23 yrs old then !
   "In your 1st night will you ask me how to do it ?  Karega na seekhega na ! Go read instructions and cook !" in came instant reply !
   I swear, mann kiya uski "Chain kuli ki main kuli" wohi kar doon par senior tha, mere se 3 inch lamba tha and unlike me gym mein dole shole banata tha is liye rahne diya !
   
   Of course I cooked, and that Maggie tasted much better than I had ever eaten, but that night I was not able to sleep !  
   No baba, I was not planning of a start-up business idea with Maggie (at 23 I was more practical then today !)
   It just stuck me, for what was I waiting for ?
   I mean I could read the operational manuals and books here too ! In college I was not getting practical experience but here, I was on ship with all operational manuals.
   The very next day I started reading books. I did not want to waste my remaining time.
   
   Book reading habit which started in 2004, all thanks to my seniors, not only gave me an edge in my professional life but also my non-professional life ! Book reading is really a great habit to inculcate.
   I realised that our education system spoon feeds too much and never makes the student curious !
   If you are curious and want to learn, nobody can stop you !

   Today I can assure you that this website is made with pure help of the books and internet. No course done ! No certificate required !
   While programming improved my logical brain, its thanks to dozens of stock investment books which taught me about risk, contrarian behaviour and life !
   
   
2. Kashyap ghar ka laxmi tha.
   In 2007-2008 when I went for Chief mate exams, 4 of my batch-mates stayed together in an apartment for few months.
   We were 27-28 years of age, old enough but not good enough for the world. We had money and we had 23.532 start-up business IDEAS.
   However my room mates did not know how to arrange beds, how to clean room, how to mop and obviously how to cook maggie !
   I had to take the lead, else these young boys would murder cleanliness and hygiene in the room !
   Kashyap ghar ka laxmi tha !
   
   So breakfast was rotated between each of the 4 guys and 1 day something happened which, till date I cannot understand ! ALY burned maggie ! I mean
   ALY was a ranker !
   ALY was very hard working !
   ALY was very disciplined !
   But ALY can't dance maggie sala
   He burned Maggie - "2 MINUTE, GOD SEND GIFT FOR THIS OUR GENERATION" !
   I mean you need to have special talent to be not able to cook maggie !
   
   I decided that day, I will add "Maggie cooking" in my "litmus test criteria" and never partner with someone who can not cook Maggie. ALY you are the only exception !
   
   ALY if you are reading, thank you for coming in my life and burning that maggie ! Today I learned YOU CAN EAT UNCOOKED MAGGIE. I tried it and its Satisfactory !

Today as I travel in Jagriti Yatra, I see so many great brains and unbelievable ideas but I wonder can they cook Maggie ?
