1. Transmit safety message on VHF.
2. Refer IMDG code for emergency response procedure for the cargo in question.
3. Adhere to reporting procedure as per
RESOLUTION A.851(20) adopted on 27 November 1997
GENERAL PRINCIPLES FOR SHIP REPORTING SYSTEMS AND SHIP REPORTING REQUIREMENTS, INCLUDING GUIDELINES FOR REPORTING INCIDENTS INVOLVING DANGEROUS GOODS, HARMFUL SUBSTANCES AND/OR MARINE POLLUTANTS

Mainly along the coast of india any such incident should be reported to the closest MRCC immediatly but not later than 24hrs as per MS notice 6 of 2010.
