being a semi-vegetarian (I eat eggs too) I wanted to ask whether vegetarian food is provided on vessels. I have heard that apart from Indian cooks, other cooks don't really understand vegetarian food.
Is this true ? Are the cooks able to cater the need of vegetarians as well? Awaiting your valuable response,
regards - Raj
Well its all your luck ...trust me ...I am a vegetarian and have been on mixed crew also (including a vessel where there were only 3 Indians) but, luckily never had such problem. A Filipino cook was so good and interested in his job that he could cook any Indian meal...
well it all is a matter of luck. as already said, the best cook i ever had onboard was a filipino.
yes you can easily get vegetarian food, me too am a vegetarian and still heading towards this career.
yes ..indian cook do both veg and non veg foods. but quanity wise non veg ll be larger
well,i too fall under your category and let me tell you its really hard in case you happen to sail with mixed crew., but somehow you can manage with atleast rice and dhal. the concept of vegetarian food is valid only on ships with full indian complement or atleast with an indian cook onboard., so dont have high hopes in case you are joining a vsl with mixed crew..all the best
