Grain stability booklet help us determine the volumetric heeling moment due to grain shift, which we compare against the allowable heeling moment and we can find the heel angle and the the residual dynamical stability which should be less than 12deg and 0.075m*rad.
But the actual intact stability of the ship is calculated with the stability booklet.
Basically it is provided to calculate the heeling moment due to grain, which is a major hazard.
