GMDSS Renewal form

Please check GMDSS GOC renewal procedure for latest procedure. Below procedure is outdated !
Surprisingly GMDSS renewal form (COP 23) in WPC website was an old version(doc). New form could be found at Indian Maritime College website and they have given pictorial instructions of filling same. One thing to note while filling GMDSS renewal form is under 6. Nature of duties performed (See para 'G' on page 4). Form doesn't have para 'G' and I filled "Maritime Mobile Service" under that section.
WPC also wants GMDSS renewal form (COP 23) to be attested by gazetted officer.

Thanks to Gaurang Doshi, who replied that WPC wants your GMDSS GOC details under section 5 for cert of competency number. When I applied I entered My COC details however it seems like WPC may have changed details !

Once done, all above mentioned documents along with DD to be sent by Speed post to

  Few questions

  1. In how many days, did you receive GMDSS renewal ?
  2. Did you do any follow-ups with WPC via phone/personal visits ?
  3. I am planning to get documents attested from a notarized lawyer (Gurgaon courts), will this be accepted ?

  1. I got my GMDSS renewed within 30-40 days. I have placed it on the last page of my GMDSS GOC and edited content above with a copy of renewed GMDSS
  2. I did not follow-up. While you can call on the number give in the receipt generated after GMDSS online registration, truth is they rarely reply !
  3. Notary attestation are not Gazetted Officer. Please check for list of Gazetted Officer here
  I am attaching GMDSS Renewal rejection letter of my friend who did notary attestation ! Since WPC never verifies your original documents they still want Gazetted Officer attestation ! All the best and happy vacations

  Sir,
  So we do not need to send GOC booklet?
  and do we need to send any self addressed envelope like in case of CDC?
  What is to be filled under name and address of the employer initem 6 of C.O.P. 23?

  No need to Send GOC booklet, you get a GMDSS renewed certificate in A4 Size Paper, simply stick it in your OLD GMDSS GOC.
  No need of self addressed envelope. Please read the form and this post carefully. Your doubts are vague and will confuse others too !
  Please fill name and address of shipping company in India in which you sailed.

  Hi Rishi
  I filled the application online and got the acknowledgment but the acknowledgement mentions address for RLO Kolkata so I am confused whether I should send application to Delhi or Kolkata. Also this is my 2nd renewal last done in 2010 when I stayed in Patna.  My profile address is still Patna address whereas I now live in Mumbai. Will they send the renewal certificate to current  address mentioned in form or as per profile? I did not see any way of updating profile address. Please advise.

  Friend, I too received the acknowledgement address for RLO Kolkata ! It does not matter what is given in the receipt and I sent application to Delhi address only (detailed above).
  
  WPC sends GMDSS renewal letter at the address mentioned in the form and not from your old online profile. In fact editing old profile is not possible as detailed at GMDSS GOC renewal issue but users got the GMDSS renewal letter at their written address in the form. Best of Luck.

  Sir,
  After one month i received the rejection letter asking for CDC to be attested by gazetted officer. I have already send all documents dully attested by gazetted officer. As your friend got same letter, please advise shall i go personally to submit docs and how long more will it take to receive GOC? please find attached letter.

  Please do not go anywhere personally, it is not required as per procedures.
  It seems like your GMDSS renewal form got rejected because of following reason:
  

  1. Not attested by Gazetted Officer.
     Please note that notary attestation is not accepted by WPC ! In India national officers are themselves confused, if they are gazetted officer or not ! I hope you got it attested by the right person.
     Recommended to please check Gazetted Officers list here
  2. After attestation the Gazetted officer missed to write his
     NAME and
     DESIGNATION and
     DEPARTMENT AND PLACE OF DUTY
  My friend did not go to WPC personally, instead got correct attestation on copies of relevant CDC Pages (last 5 years sailing experience). It took him another 25-30 days after sending the CDC copies again.

  Thank you sir,
  I inquired and found that they did not accept attestation of UHBVN department. Mainly they are interested in stamp which include government in it. My suggestion, attestation of gazetted officer of Govt. school and colleges are better.

  Once application done online and documents submitted, how long does it take to receive an acknowledgement from them

  Sir,
   my GMDSS- GOC license is expiring on 05th-Mar-2016. I tried applying online through the wpc website but was unsuccessful as the site is showing "Renewal of license already in progress".
  I had earlier applied for the renewal of license on 08-Jan-2011. I received the renew hardcopy that very year. But the website is still showing "hardcopy pending". I am not able to proceed further on the website for online submission.
  Should I send all docs + application form + demand draft to the mentioned address without submitting online.
  Kindly advise.

  An RTI to WPC by Capt Pawan Duggirala clarifies that GMDSS GOC renewal time frame by WPC is only 15 days however my past experience is that it takes 30 to 40 days to receive GMDSS renewal letter.
  If WPC website is showing "Under process" after your last renewal it is advised to ignore and send your application through post with screenshot of this error. While mariners have got their GOC renewal letter within 30-40 days, there is no available mean to track GMDSS GOC renewal status! The only way it seems to get the application status is through online RTI to Wireless Planning and coordination Wing (WPC). Best of Luck.

  Now the procedures are different. You need to apply to Regional licensing office ( from where your GOC is issued) for renewal
