GP Rating Maritime College selection

I need advice in choosing GP rating maritime college some are DG approved college and not assuring me to place any where and running 6 month GP rating Course / deck cadet course on the other hand some college approved by ministry of corporate affairs giving 100% placement also with USA or UK recognition and running 3.5 month GP rating/ deck cadet course. My doubt is

1. Are they fraud ?
2. Difference between course?
3. What are the risks ?
4. Will they provide CDC ?

  I fail to understand "college approved by ministry of corporate affairs" ..can you please list few such colleges. Awaiting response.

  1. DG Shipping actually scrutinizes each Marine College in India and is trying to get the cadets placed onboard to complete their sea-time, Ministry of corporate affairs simply checks that the organization is registered under corporate affairs.
  
  
  2. We talked before also that Merchant Navy is going through a bad phase for cadets/ratings. You can go through Fake manning agents on a rock n roll where @mariners is sharing his experience how new trainees are getting cheated everyday. I feel sorry to say but people who do not get placed during Campus selection are finding it very difficult to get ships for completing their sea-time.
  
  
  3. DG Approved institute are required to submit to DG Shipping the status of trainees placement every year while ministry of corporate affairs have nothing to do with the placement of trainees.
  
  
  4. While calling non DG approved colleges "fraud" will be wrong but some of the above mentioned college promise "100% Placement Assistance in Shipping /Offshore Industry" They are using the word "assistance", they do not promise 100% placement and verbal commitments have no value !
  
  
  5. While you might get a CDC (Panama, Liberia if not Indian) but most RPSL approved companies might not be entertaining your done Course making it even more difficult to get a job afterwards. By the way getting a CDC has nothing to do with getting a job. CDC or Continuous discharge Certificate is just a Personal document necessary to board a ship.
  
  
  6. Also remember that this course certificate is hardly of any use on shore (read to get any other job on land).
  
  I am not trying to dissuade you but giving you correct picture so that you can yourself make a wise decision.

  Hi Friend, my above reply differentiates between organization approved by ministry of corporate affairs and DG Shipping approved institute.
  Sorry to say but it seems like Global Pacific International Marine-mangement Services too is not DG Shipping approved institute. Recommend you to also check Global Pacific Shipping.
