GP Rating to MEO

I have done GP Rating course. I want to go to the Engine department of ship. I wanted to know that Merchant Navy rank like Deck rating after having specific seatime and after passing some exams can become 3rd officer. Can a Wiper or Oiler also get promoted like this after MEO class 4 Exam to 4th Engineer ?

  Yes dear you may become a MEO .you need required sea time may be of 36 month

  Dear Friend, I am not sure but I think this is still not possible in India ! While we did find the relevant circular for GP Rating to 2nd Mate but we were unable to find any DG Shipping Circulars for GP Rating to MEO Officer. Probably this has to do with independent / under supervision watch-keeping which is required to be provided by Ship's Chief Engineer. But then again I am not sure !
  I would advise you to contact DG Shipping or contact MMD for better details.
  
  However, it is possible in UK after 36 months of sea service !

  Thank you for your reply sir ,1 more question I wanted to ask was that I am a fresher now and I got in contact with a company named keirsos maritime ltd !
  Sir please suggest me is this a registered company ? Also please tell me how to check whether a company is registered or blacklisted company.

  Ayaz, please check KEI RSOS Maritime, I think you will find it interesting.
  
  For checking whether a company is registered or not you can download the latest RPSL Agencies from DG Shipping or you can also check RPSL Company list maintained on our website. Trust you know What is RPSL Number.
  
  The problem is that Indian registered companies do not require RPSL, and so to confirm if a shipping company in India is registered you need to confirm either they have RPSL number for foreign recruiters or is an Indian Registered company. Best of luck friend.
