My sea time will be counted or not ?
My sea time will be counted or not ?
Sir , I am a DNS cadet and doing continuous 18 months, but after 12 months I requested company to transfer me to another vessel. They transferred me to another vessel. I got immigration clearance stamp in my passport & transfer letter from company.
I want to know whether my sea time will be counted & will there be any problem for my 2nd mate exams if I am doing continuous 18 months onboard ?

0 Sea time required for 2nd mate after Diploma in nautical science is 18 months, however it is MLC 2010 requirement not to allow any seafarer to sail more than 12 months continuously on a ship, preventing fatigue and allowing him to have proper rest (break) from on-board stress.
I do not think there is any problem with your 2nd mate exam, if you are doing it with RPSL approved shipping companies. Also remember to check the Master Checker in e-Samudra profile after each sailing to confirm that your shipping company is updating your sea-time there, as same will be verified at MMD once you go to book your 2nd mate exams.
Would also recommend to go through STCW 2010 Sea time Calculator which we continuously update for more information regarding sea time requirements and merchant navy courses in India to be done after Diploma in Nautical science course.
Best of luck.
