I AM 23 YEAR OLD GUY, CLEARED MY HSC(Science) in 2004, LIVING IN THANE(MUMBAI).
I WANT TO JOIN MERCHANT NAVY AS A DECK CADET OR BY GP RATING COURSE.
BUT, NOW I AM IN VERY CONFUSION ABOUT THE AGE LIMITS SHOWN IN ADMISSION NOTIFICATIONS OF VARIOUS INSTITUTES.
IS THERE ANY AGE BARRIER IN GOVT. INSTITUTES, IN RESPECT TO PRIVATE INSTITUTES ?
WHAT IS ISO 9001:2000 CERTIFICATION FOR INSTITUTIONS ?
IS CHATE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY (MUMBAI)(CHATEINTERNATIONALACADEMY.COM) GOOD TO JOIN ?

0 Hi Khan,Glad to know that you are willing to join Merchant navy. Few things which might still help you , don't quote me but if you ask me then I would suggest you going for Cadet since you are HSC pass and sooner or later everyone likes to be an officer!! (it will be a little expensive issue though !)
About the age limits and Colleges please check join Merchant navy in India.
I am not sure about the ISO standard certification nor I think you will get any details about this on DG shipping site,but this has to do with the college and it doesn't guarantee you any placement anyways.
As for the college CHATE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY (MUMBAI) it is not a DG Shipping approved college. Would recommend you to check GP Rating College selection to understand difference between DG Shipping approved Maritime College vs Non DG Shipping approved college.
Also please note that while doing any Pre-Sea Course from any college is easy, finding a ship/company after that for completing required Sea-time isn't!! So it is better to find a Shipping company first and then go for courses as sponsored Candidates. However joining vice versa is also completely possible.
