                Night Signal -  in addition to the anchor lights, 2 all round red lights in a vertical line...

                Fog Signal

                at intervals of not more than 1-minute ring the bell rapidly for five seconds. In a vessel 100 meters or more in length the bell shall be sounded in the forepart of the vessel and immediately after the ringing of the bell the gong shall be sounded rapidly for about 5 seconds in the after part of the vessel. in addition, give three separate and distinct strokes on the bell immediately before and after the rapid ringing of the bell. A vessel aground may in addition sound an appropriate whistle signal.

                            The squat effect is the hydrodynamic phenomenon by which a vessel moving quickly through shallow water creates an area of lowered pressure that causes the ship to be closer to the seabed than would otherwise be expected. This phenomenon is caused when water that should normally flow under the hull encounters resistance due to the close proximity of the hull to the seabed. This causes the water to move faster, creating a low-pressure area with lowered water level surface

                                        MARPOL is an international regulation made for prevention of marine pollution
                                        In 1973 IMO has organised a conference in which they have passed two protocols in P-1 they made a report from the past accidents caused by the harmfull substances and in P-11 they introduce the aritarbution.this conference conducted from 19th oct to 2nd nov 1973. And in 1978 IMO again called a conference and passed five different annex from annex-1 to annex-5 and in 1997 they introduce the annex-6.
                                        these all annex includes the regulation for the prevention of marine pollution or we can say MARPOL 1973/78.

                                        The procedure which we use to test launch lifeboats is:

                                          remove gripes/lashing wires

                                          no one boards the boat

                                          launch boat to water, doing brake tests on the way down

                                          crew go down embarkation ladder or accommodation ladder and board boat

                                          boat is taken away and engine/steering etc checked

                                          boat returned and hooked on

                                          boat lifted about 2 metres above water

                                          self-release wire tested from inside the boat and boat landed back in water

                                          if necessary, boat lifted again about one metre above water and quick release mechanism tested

                                          all crew disembark and climb up ladder

                                          boat retrieved with no one inside

                                          boat secured
