CDC Renewal Procedure
Recently I renewed my CDC (CDC Renewal Sticker). One friend sent a mail from his company detailing CDC renewal procedure with covering letter and other formalities. I did not follow their procedure and stuck with CDC renewal procedure laid down in the DG Shipping Circular. You can download my CDC Renewal form filled for reference.
CDC Renewal Procedure broken down into parts which seemed most confusing to me :
Register & complete your e-Samudra seafarer profile. Completing your DG Shipping Seafarer profile, is mandatory as per DG Guidelines. Same is also required for Dangerous Cargo endorsement.
I made my DG Shipping profile during Master exams @ e-Samudra dg shipping seafarer registration. While updating, I was confused about Passport number as my Passport was renewed. E-Samudra has many problems on of which is that it does not allow you to delete any previous records so I simply added my new Passport details. Rest I updated few old data and my seafarer profile was complete. You will be asked to recheck again prior taking final printout. You need to submit your profile printout too with the documents required for CDC renewal.

While you cannot do much for 500 error as its their server issue but for other problems I think you check the printout page as same happened with me during my DG shipping online seafarer registration too, but the printouts were OK. Best of Luck. - X

0 You cannot apply for "new" CDC as new CDC is only issued by DG Shipping to someone who never had any prior CDC (Please check Declaration of CDC Renewal Form).
You need to apply for CDC Renewal and if you have enough pages then apply for CDC renewal sticker. Best of luck. - X
0 Hello sirji, while updating my gtf to the profile i see familiriasation in LNG tanker operations. There is nothing called as gtfc in modular courses drop down.. Are both the same? Thank you

Download the CDC Renewal form @ M.S. Notice 24 of 2012 Dated 04.12.2012 . To me CDC renewal form is self explanatory. It covers not only CDC Renewal but also duplicate CDC and lost CDC replacement procedure. Listing down important points
- No need of attestation by Gazetted Officer, Self attestation accepted on copies of your documents.
- Do not forget to write your Full name and date of self attestation.
- Use only CAPITAL LETTERS while filling your CDC Renewal form.
- Avoid over-writing !
- Fill & send only page number 4 to 8 (first 3 instruction pages are for self reference)
- Write on top left hand of the envelope (containing documents/CDC renewal form) in BLOCK LETTERS Replacement/Duplicate/Revalidation of CDC as required.
- No fees levied for re-validation of CDC (CDC Sticker).
- Write your name on the reverse of your photograph.
- Send the application by Registered / Speed post / Courier service to the Shipping Master (
from where CDC was obtained i.e. Mumbai/Kolkata/Chennai,address given in the CDC Renewal form or try DG Shipping Contact list.)

I copied all the filled and printed pages of CDC.
All documents list send by me attached below.
Kept the documents list simple, did not add covering letter or next of kin details (advised by few shipping companies)

I chose Speed post for sending my duly filled CDC Renewal Form.

1 No harm in self attesting, that is what I did ! Trust post card stamp details given in form, though it does not matter because anyways if it is of lesser value, you only will be paying for it (it is returned back to you) !

Please advice if the self attested xerox copies of CDC to be enclosed is only the first two pages or the copies of all pages of sea-time record???? - X

DG website and guidelines doesnt mention about STCW course xerox copies and it had mentioned about CDC copy with gazetted officer attestation and DG profile. so is it a trend that shipping master rejects application without copy of modular certificates? - X
0 Hi Friend, most of the things I mentioned are already in the CDC Renewal Form. I am not sure what you are talking about or can you please leave the link of the concerned Guidelines which you are mentioning ! Shipping masters do not reject anything without a cause, and when they do, they do send cause of rejection letter which I have mentioned in CDC Renewal Status.
You need to send a self addressed post card along with your documents. CDC renewal status will be send back to you on this post card. You will be assigned a file number on this post card for future reference related to your CDC Sticker application.
How long does it take :
18 May 2013 - Dispatched filled CDC Renewal Form, copies of documents.
08 Jun 2013 - Received the file number detailed in self addressed Post Card.
03 Jul 2013 - Received CDC Renewal sticker
What if you do not receive post card or CDC renewal sticker even after 2 months ?
I think the only way to get details then would be first to verify from your post/courier office, date shipment was delivered. Contact DG Shipping by e-mail / registered post OR file an RTI application for CDC Renewal status. You can check my RTI to DG Shipping.
While in my case CDC Checker never updated my renewed CDC Data, but it seems like lately CDC Checker are updated prior sending your CDC renewal sticker. Thanks to Navin Barthwal for his reply regarding this!

0 One of my friend got his CDC renewal form rejected as he got his documents notary attested (YOU NEED TO SELF ATTEST, SIGN AND DATE AS DETAILED BEFORE ).
He got his postcard returned blank and also received a rejection letter from DG Shipping detailing the reason of rejection within 1 month of applying for CDC renewal. Attaching his rejection letter for reference

I am UK Master COC holder and sent my CDC for renewal to Shipping Master Mumbai on 19th December, Yesterday i rcvd rejection of form from them stating that the DG Mumbai approved Modular course certificates are not submitted.
I sent PSSR and Medicare certificates from UK college whereas AFF Course and PSCRB Course was from LBS CAMSAR and TS Rahman respectively. Can you advise the possible reason of rejection. - X
0 I have PSSR and PST certificates from singapore and have done my cdc renewal in 2012 eithout any issues.
All other certificates are from India.I am applying for replacement CDC now.Will there be any idsues please

I received my CDC Renewal sticker on 03 Jul 2013 almost 1.5 months after I applied for CDC renewal.
Indian CDC contain pages marked "SPACE FOR PASTE OF RENEWAL STICKER" almost at the end of CDC (Page number 29 onwards),please stick your CDC renewal sticker on this page.
If I had missed something, please do share your experience/updates about CDC renewal sticker.

0 CDC is not STCW 2010 requirement and hence refresher STCW 2010 courses are not required for CDC renewal. Best of luck.

Is it wht given in circular or the new dgshipping adress which is at kanjurmarg mumbai. - X
0 This is a repeated question ! I fail to understand the confusion between the address as you need to send your CDC Renewal form to any Shipping Master given in the form and NOT to DG Shipping.
Would recommend you to also check For CDC Renewal apply to any Shipping Master now. Best of luck friend. - X
0 On DG shipping website in the option C.D.C checker /INDOS checker when i enter the details the C.D.C validity is not correct ,self has renewed the C.D.C one year back,seems that the validity extension has not been updated,any body faced similar problem what has been done or any inputs.

0 Dear friend, even after an year of CDC renewal sticker, my CDC Checker is not updated and I am least bothered, as it is not my mistake !
All I am concerned is Esamudra DG Shipping Profile, simply because it is mariner's duty to fill it. CDC Checker is DG Shipping headache not mine, anyways you can check out
INDOS number not shown in CDC Checker OR
CDC Checker shows old data OR
contact DG Shipping and see if they can correct it !
